• Always read the label for instructions on use, storage and disposal. Always follow the instructions carefully.
• Don't buy too much. Only buy about one year's supply at a time.
• Find out what is the best way to solve your garden pest, weed or disease problem. Ask one of our friendly team about alternatives, or try www.rhs.org.uk or www.gardenorganic.co.uk.
• When buying a garden chemical, read the label or ask one of our team for advice on the best product to use. Further useful information can be found at www.garden-care.org.uk.
• Ask yourself - do you already have a product that can be used up? Is it still legal to use? You can check if any stored product with a MAFF or MAPP number is still legal to use at www.pesticides.gov.uk/garden.asp, and products with a HSE number at www.hse.gov.uk/biocides/copr/approved.htm, or telephone the HSA info line on 0845 345 0055.
• Never pour unwanted garden chemicals down the drain as you can harm wildlife and the environment. Your local Council can give advice on disposal of unwanted garden chemicals or empty contrainers.
